About

The Harrisburg Parks Foundation was established in the Fall of 2014 to help the city of Harrisburg raise badly-needed funds for the maintenance of its many playgrounds and amazing system of parks. The not-for-profit organization is presently affiliated with the Foundation for Enhancing Communities to raise tax-exempt funds.***

Mission

The mission of the Harrisburg Parks Foundation is to support the City of Harrisburg’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Enrichment in the preservation, maintenance, expansion, and development of the city’s parks and playgrounds; and in the delivery and improvement of recreational opportunities for the benefit of the citizens of Harrisburg and the general public.

Goals

  • Raise funds and secure other  in-kind resources for the purpose of implementing plans for the preservation and improvement of the City’s parks, playgrounds and recreational programs.
  • Prepare promotional materials to educate the general public about the assets and opportunities of the City’s parks, playgrounds and recreational programs.
  • Initiate and support special events within the City’s park system and to further promote its assets as tourism destinations through various formats of print and electronic media.
  • Cultivate public and private partnerships in the Central Pennsylvania area.
