Jack Crago Memorial Golf Outing

This year’s Golf Outing honors the memory of Jack Crago. Jack, who passed away in April 2016,was a devoted member of the Parks Foundation, and its predecessor, the Harrisburg Parks Partnership. Jack spear-headed a series of annual golf outings to benefit the City’s youth program. The Harrisburg Parks Foundation and the Capital Area Greenbelt Association present a free guided walk along the historic, city owned parkway between Derry and Market Streets on Saturday, April 23, at 10:00 AM.  Please join us for an informative walk covering:

  • Parkway history
  • Spring wildflowers
  • Wildlife
  • Invasive species
  • Stormwater erosion

Donations will be accepted and benefit the Harrisburg Parks Foundation. The walk will be led by Scott Shepler, a Parks Foundation and Greenbelt Association volunteer. Scott has been the parkway steward for over five years, and is leading the parkway’s restoration efforts for the Greenbelt Association.

Pre-registration is required by calling Scott Shepler at 717 236-0261, and will be limited to the first 20 people. We will meet behind City Line Diner at the trailhead parking lot. Additional parking is available at the Visiting Nurses Association on the other side of Derry Street.

The parkway is 1.3 miles long and wheelchair accessible. The time required to complete the walk will be decided by the participants, but should take about 90 minutes to walk the full 2.6 miles. Want to walk just one way? Arrange your own pickup at Market St. Rd. and Parkway Blvd.
